The former governor of Old Ondo State which comprises Ondo and Ekiti State is dead.

The Elder statesman was born in 1940. He died in the early hour of Thursday in his Ikere Ekiti hometown, Ekiti State.

The report has it that the former governor died shortly after a brief illness.

Olumilua was the governor of the old Ondo State during the Third Republic between January 1992 and November 1993 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

His son, who is the current Commissioner for Information in Ekiti State, Muyiwa Olumilua, confirmed his father’s death to journalists.

According to the Commissioner, “Baba died today (Thursday) around 3 am. We thank God that he lived a good and worthy life and we are proud of his personality and achievements while alive.

“Burial arrangements will be announced later.”
