The Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prince Gbolahan Lawal, has been appointed as the Oniru-elect of Iruland. His appointment has been approved by the Lagos State Government.

Lawal is a former aide-de-camp to the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Lawal’s appointment was approved during the State Executive Council meeting on Friday where final ratification on his nomination was made.

Akosile in his statement added that the appointment takes immediate effect from Friday afternoon.

The former commissioner will succeed the former Oniru of Iruland, the late Oba Abiodun Idowu Oniru who died after a brief illness on September 23, 2019 at the age of 82.

Report has it that there has been a disagreement among some royal families on who would succeed the late monarch.
