President Donald Trump’s eldest son’s girlfriend has been tested positive for coronavirus, US media reported on Friday.
Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is a former Fox News television personality, is dating Donald Trump Jr. She traveled to South Dakota to see President Trump’s Fourth of July speech and fireworks celebration at Mount Rushmore.
According to The New York Times, after discovering she had the virus in a routine test conducted on anyone expected to come in close contact with President Trump, Guilfoyle, 51, was immediately isolated.
This development was confirmed by the chief of staff to the Trump campaign’s finance committee, Sergio Gor. In a statement to the newspaper, Gor says, “She’s doing well, and will be retested to ensure the diagnosis is correct since she’s asymptomatic.”
He added: “As a precaution (she) will cancel all upcoming events. Donald Trump Jr was tested negative, but as a precaution is also self-isolating and is cancelling all public events.”
The US media also reported that Guilfoyle will be the third person close to the US President that will be tested positive for COVID-19.
Others include Trump’s personal valet and the US Vice President’s press secretary.
According to the top infectious disease expert, Anthony Fauci, coronavirus has claimed about 130,000 American lives and a recent resurgence “puts the entire country at risk”.
