The Government of Oyo State has adjusted the academic calendar and released examination dates for students in terminal classes.

The decision was approved by the Oyo State Executive Council.

The government cancelled Third Term 2019/2020 session and ordered the promotion of students based on First and Second Term Continuous Assessment.

The Oyo star Government also released examination dates for student in terminal classes, including Primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3.

It said students in terminal classes should proceed on holiday from 30th of July and resume for examinations.

Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will begin from 10th to 18th of August, 2020; and Competitive Entrance Examination into the Schools of Science will hold on 19th August, 2020.

Placement and screening test to JSS1 will hold on the 20th of August, 2020; placement test into Technical Colleges will hold on 28th of August 2020.

Meanwhile, the Oyo Government said that examination for SSS 3 students will begin when the West African Examination Council (WAEC) announces the date.

Nonetheless, the government released the approved calendar for 2020/2021 academic session for students in the State.

While First Term will begin from 21st September to 18th December, 2020; Second Term will begin from 11th January to 9th April 2021; and Third Term will begin from 3rd May to 30th July 2021.

The West African Pilot News reports that the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country led to shut down of several sectors, including education. Many state governments hurriedly closed schools in March to prevent the spread of the viral disease among students.
