The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the conviction and sentencing of a pastor, Apostle Basil Princewill, who raped a 14-year-old girl and attempted to abort the resultant pregnancy.

Reading the unanimous judgment of a three-man panel on Tuesday, Justice Stephen Adah said the appellate court found nothing wrong with the judgement which was given on June 25, 2019 by Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Justice Baba-Yusuf, convicted Princewill, who is the Founder and General Overseer of the Mountain Mover Fire Ministry of International, Nyaya, Abuja, in a judgement, on two of four counts which he was charged with.

The General Overseer was subsequently sentenced to seven years for rape and five years for attempting to procure abortion, a decision he appealed to the Court of Appeal.
