The weeklong Sinmi-Lalama festival of Lunguda Chiefdom of Guyuk local government area of Adamawa State was rounded off Saturday at the Palace of Kwandi Nungurya in Guyuk with people from all walks of life within and outside Adamawa state witnessing the event.

The event is to thank, and appreciate God for a successful season, bountiful harvest and prosperous New Year with the display of various cultural dances.

On the occasion, Kwandi Nunguruya Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda II called on sons and daughters of Lunguda chiefdom to live in unison and tolerate one another for peaceful coexistence, declaring that the traditional council is committed to ensuring lasting peace between Lunguda and Waja.

He thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for providing an enabling environment towards organizing the event despite the global trend of challenges ranging from insecurity and COVID-19 pandemic.

In his speech, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State described the Sinmi-Lalama festival of Lunguda Chiefdom as a symbol that will promote peaceful coexistence between Lunguda and Waja among other tribes in the Guyuk local government area.

“The Lunguda and Waja people have suffered killings as a result of community disturbances in the area, it is my hope that the festival will bring back togetherness and entrench unity in the area”.

“Government has constituted a committee to broker peace between Lunguda and Waja and recommendations of the committee to the latter.

“The present administration will continue to work with traditional and religious leaders in Adamawa to promote culture and peace”. He added

In his goodwill message, the Bala Waja of Balanga local government area of Gombe state, Alhaji Muhammad Danjuma Muhammad said Lunguda and Waja have live in peace and harmony for decades until the recent unrest caused by some miscreants.
