In an interview with the West African Pilot News, Gideon a teenager revealed that the walk became expedient as an avenue for youths to collectively call on God for divine intervention.

“The Nigeria of today is not favorable to the youths. The rich are getting richer and the poor, poorer. Meritocracy is relegated to the back while kakistocracy and nepotism the order of the day,”

“We desire a nation where graduates will gain employment on merit not on who you know”

“We desire a change and considering man’s frailty, we have resolved to take it to God in prayer,

“The theme of this walk is taken from the book of 2nd Chronicles chapter 7, verse 14: “if my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land”.

“Hence, we the Enugu youths pray to God Almighty to hear our prayers and heal our land,” he concluded.

The youths however expressed gratitude to the policemen who were with them all through the walk.
