To improve the health of livestock for sufficient good meat and milk, the Adamawa State Government has resuscitated the annual vaccination of livestock against various diseases after ten years when the last exercise was carried out in the state.
Flagging off the exercise in Girei, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri observed that the state is endowed with livestock resources but various diseases it has hindered the exploitation of the huge potentials in the livestock subsector to boost the economy of the state.
Fintiri commended the efforts of the Ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture Development for controlling livestock diseases that will enable Adamawa populace have a healthy livestock that can provide healthy meat and milk.
He saluted youths in the state for exhibiting high sense of decorum during this critical period of security challenges in the country and urged  herders to ensure peaceful coexistence with farmers and avoid clashes during this harvest period in the state.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Livestock and Aquaculture Development, Alhaji Usman Yahaya Diyajo said the vaccination will protect cattle from wide range of diseases and improve production.
In his remark, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture Development, Doctor Abdurrahman Tukur said livestock sector contributes 37% of the Adamawa Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the state is endowed with abundant livestock.
There were goodwill messages from State Assembly Member for Girei constituency Alhaji Muhammad Mutawalle, and representatives of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Tabital Pulaaku and that of Bibbe Nganchugol during the event.
