Nigerian music stars, Davido, Skales; Super Eagles Player, John Ogu and many other Nigerians have reacted to the viral video of the popular Nigerian actor, who has turned politician, Desmond Elliot, for allegedly pushing for social media regulation.
Few days ago, the former actor was called out on Twitter for calling for an anti-social media bill.
The actor, now politician, had, however, denied the allegations.
Thus, a video has been making the round online, where the lawmaker representing Surulere constituency in Lagos, Desmond Elliot, called for social media regulations.
In the video, the actor turned politician said, “In the next five years, there will be no Nigeria if we don’t act now.”
The politician was seen bitterly complaining about how children insult politicians on social media at will, saying “culture has gone.”
He then called on the Nigerian celebrities, social media influencers and motivational speakers to “turn down on the hate speech narrative.”
This in turn, made the actor turned politician to become a top trending on Twitter as Nigerians and celebrities have joined in criticizing him for his push for social media regulation.
Music star, Davido, wrote, “Desmond Elliot just destroyed all the precious childhood memories he gave us in movies …”
Another Nigeria popular singer, Skales, tweeted, “Desmond Elliot tho… can’t trust anyone in politics. Kai e fall my hand”
Super Eagles footballer, John Ogu tweeted; “Desmond Elliot called us all CHILDREN. Just imagine!!!! I’m happy he has advised we go get our PVC. E go shock them all when the time reach.
“The same Social media you used in campaigning, the same Influencers he paid to campaign for him and the same youth who voted for him have all turned CHILDREN in his eyes.
