The financial autonomy enjoyed by local government councils in Adamawa has translated into grassroots development and peaceful coexistence among the citizenry.

The Chairman Mubi South Local Government Council Alhaji Jingi Rufa’i disclosed this in Yola while addressing Journalists at the ALGON State Secretariat, explained that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is not interfering with allocation accruing to the local governments.

“ALGON has its own source of allocation directly from the federation account and that is why there is a monthly JAC meeting chaired by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government Affairs where funds are distributed equitably for proper execution at the grassroots.

“The Governor has never interfered in the JAC meeting and all Chairmen are contended with the monthly allocations”. He added

Rufa’i who is the State Chairman of ALGON added that administrative activities are now in earnest at local governments with prompt payment of salaries before the end of each since their inception.

He added that the Chairmen of local governments are now settling the backlog of salary arrears inherited from the previous government and will continue with the peace project of governor Fintiri for development to thrive at the grassroots.

Rufa’i further said Local Government chairmen in the state would design activities geared towards empowering youths to make them self-reliant and responsible members of the society for them to contribute to the economic growth of the state.

He called on people to exercise patience and pray for leaders to accomplish the task of rebuilding the Adamawa.

Rufa’i reiterated the resolve of the Association in partnering with Journalists in sustaining the peace and urban renewal projects of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and urged the Journalists to always cross check their facts before publication.

He also called on them to maintain high ethical values of balancing their reports as enshrined in Journalism Code of Ethics and dismissed an online report that some Local Government Chairmen in Adamawa have fought at the Government House on the alleged money to ALGON.

“As responsible and critical stakeholders on the Adamawa project, the ALGON holds media in high esteem”. He said.
