The Adamawa State Board of Internal Revenue generated nine point seven billion Naira (N9.7b) in 2019.
This is contained in a report by Adamawa State House Standing Committee on Finance Appropriation, and Budget on the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure and Fiscal Strategy Paper presented by the Chairman of the committee and member representing Demsa Constituency Mrs Kate Raymond Mamuno on the floor of the house.
The report further explained that the revenue generated so far by the board in 2020 is equally encouraging.
“The fact that the year 2020 is not ended, the 2020 IGR is superp, the commitment of the Chairman and his management team brought about the improvement of the IGR”. She said.
According to the Legislators, despite the effect of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic on the economy, the state’s 2020 IGR has improved based on the 2020 budget as the half year collection revealed.
It was in the light of this, Members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly during the plenary session unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Chairman Alhaji Hamman Adama Njabari, and the Management of the board for enhancing the revenue profile of the state.
Moving a motion to that effect, the member representing Verre Constituency Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak, told his colleagues that effort of the Board under Hamman Adama Njabari deserves commendation, and called on his colleagues to join him in passing vote of confidence on the Chairman.
It was on this note that the state lawmakers passed a vote of confidence as prayed by the sponsor of the motion, and urged the board Chairman to expedite the effort to generate more revenue for the state.
