A fuel tanker loaded with petrol has exploded at Jambutu junction in Jimeta, the twin capital of Adamawa State, killing one person on the spot and injured many.
Those injured have been rushed to hospitals for medical attention.
The incident which occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a welder is repairing some portions on the tanker has shattered some nearby houses.
An eyewitness, Bakura Sani attributed the incident to negligence on the part of the tanker owner for failure to lose the knob of the tanker while welding is being carried out.
As at the time of filling in the report the tanker is still on fire, while fire service officials are yet to arrive.
