JOS — Mr. Jacob Pwakim, a public affairs analyst, has advised the new service chiefs to adopt modern strategies and tactics towards ending the myriad of insecurity in the country.
Pwakim, the Executive Director of Youth Initiative Against Violence and Human Rights Abuse, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Jos.
NAN reports that President Muhammadu Bahari on Tuesday appointed new service chiefs.
The analyst called on them to review the existing strategies and urged them to introduce modern ones to end the insurgency that has lingered for long in the northeastern part of the country.
“Let me first thank the president for listening to the calls by Nigerians to change the service chiefs.
“But the replacement of the service chiefs will only yield a result if government take more seriously the issues of safety and security of all Nigerians.
“Also, the new service chiefs must also adopt new and better strategies in ending all forms of insecurity in the country.
“They should review the existing strategies in fighting insurgency, they must synergise to produce results,” he said.
Pwakim also called on Nigerians to support and collaborate with the security at every level to enable them to succeed.
NAN reports that Maj.-Gen Lucky Irabor has been appointed Chief of Defence Staff, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff, and Air-vice Marshal Isiaka Amao, Chief of Air staff. (NAN)
