JOS — The Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund(ITF), Sir Joseph Ari, on Tuesday inaugurated an introductory technology laboratory at the fund’s staff school in Jos.
Ari, while performing the function, expressed the commitment of the fund to provide world-class technical vocational education that would equip young citizens with technical skills to meet the growing needs of the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy.
He disclosed that contract for the construction of the laboratory was awarded to Fran Nigeria Ltd. in November 2019 at the cost of N 29,956,500.
He said that the fund had in 2020 constructed and inaugurated a block of 16 classrooms as well as renovated and upgraded all structures at the ITF staff school to ensure that pupils and students were provided with modern amenities and convenient facilities for learning.
The director-general further revealed that the fund also established a school farm for agricultural science practical and provided and equipped workshops for Technical Science, Home Economics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology subjects.
Earlier, the Chairman, ITF staff school who is also the Director of Administration and Human Resources of the fund, Mr. Tajudeen Ishola, commended the director-general and the management committee of the school for their continuous efforts to improve the standard and facilities in the school to make it one of the best in the country.
Ishola said due to the management’s immense contribution to the school to the 2020 West African Examination Council Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE) out of the 51 students who sat for the examination, 49 had at least 5 credits inclusive of Mathematics and English.
