YOLA — Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill for a law to eliminate violence against persons in private and public life.

The bill prohibits all forms of violence and provides maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders.

The majority leader of the House, Hammantukur Yettisuri of Jada Mbulo constituency presented the bill for a third reading on the floor of the House as required by law during Monday’s plenary session.

The Speaker of the House Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas who presided over the session put the motion into voice vote and unanimously supported by the lawmakers present during the sitting.

He, therefore, directed the clerk of the house to prepare a clean copy of the bill for the Governor’s assent.

In a related development, a bill for a law to repeal the Gongola State Hotels and Tourism Board law 1981and re-enact Adamawa State Hotels and Tourism Board has scaled through first reading.

Pwamakaino Mackwando, Deputy Speaker of the house and member representing Numan Constituency presented the bill during Monday’s sitting.

Thereafter Speaker of the house Aminu Iya Abbas directed the Chairman House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics, and Privileges to schedule the bill for second reading on any convenient legislative day.
