A 47-year-old man, Alphonsus Peter has been arrested by the Adamawa State police command for allegedly assaulting a 9-year-old minor in his neighborhood.
DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, command’s police spokesman in a statement said the incident happened at Demsawo in Yola North local government area.
The statement added that the randy man took advantage of the girl’s naivety and her parent’s absence and lured her into his room where he carried out the nefarious act.
“The Adamawa State police command, On 29/3/2021 apprehended 47-year-old suspect for sexually assaulting a 9-year old-girl.
“The suspect Alphonsus Peter 47-years, a resident of Demsawo, Yola North
took advantage of his neighbor’s absence and lured their 9-year-old daughter into his room where he sexually assaulted her.
“Luckily, her cries attracted the attention of a good Samaritan which resulted in his arrest by the police attached to Doubeli Division,” the statement said.
Investigations so far revealed that the suspect is a father of six and a neighbor to the victim’s parents.
The statement further said the Commissioner Police Aliyu Adamu Alhaji while commending the DPO Doubeli and the good Samaritan for exposing and making it impossible for criminals of such to escape arrest, equally directed further investigations into the case.
