Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has condemned in strong terms the unruly behaviour of students of the Adamawa State Polytechnic Yola which led to the destruction of facilities in the institution.
Recall that some graduating students of Crime Management and Control on Thursday 25th March staged a riot sequel to an earlier circular banning them from carrying out a sign-out party.
The Governor after inspecting the destroyed structures said the government will act accordingly when it receives the report from the committee constituted.
“It is unfortunate how students of Crime Management and Control who are trained to institutionalize peace in the society turn out in such a manner.
“The students who are meant to graduate with a certificate in character and learning have failed, stating further that their actions depict that they can’t be good future leaders.
“Government expressed dismay over the behaviour of the students, as the government awaits the report of the committee it expressed willingness to abide by all its recommendations”, Fintiri said.
While conducting the Governor, Rector of the institution Prof. Ibrahim Umar commended the Governor for inspecting the level of damage, said the committee set up to investigate the matter has two weeks to complete its assignment.
“The committee will ascertain the remote cause of the mayhem, assess the level of damage, cost implications, fish out culprits, and proffer solutions”, he said.
