Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, has advised Nigerian youths to reflect on the differences between politics and governance as they lend their voices to the Nigeria polity.
The former Presidential aspirant gave the advice during a summit organized by the Institute for Governance and Economic Transformation on Saturday evening.

The virtual summit which was conveyed by Moghalu was tagged “Elevating Youth Voices.” It features youths from different works of life.

Some of the panelists are Jude ‘M.I’ Abaga, Regina Askia-Williams, Sandra Ezekwesili, Benjamin Joseph, Hamzat Lawal, Modupe Odele, Kate Henshaw, Gimba Kakanda, Rinu Oduala, Timi Olagunju, Rahama Sadau, DJ Switch.
While reacting to comments of the panelist, Moghalu admitted that Nigerian youths understand what to be done, adding that “The youth has to be careful to whom they lend their voice or what they lend their voice to.”

Moghalu, who is the President of the Institute, advised that the youth must move forward in a responsible manner. He said this while reacting to comments from Joseph and MI on ‘Influencers and Governance’.

“The fact that somebody knows how to win election does not mean that he or she is good for us. This is a very powerful statement and it addresses the problem of Nigeria in a very direct way because a lot of us do not take time to reflect on the differences between politics and governance.

“And sometimes, we have a mentality of wanting to go with ‘winners’ in quote, therefore, vote for those we think will win not for those we know in our hearts should win.

“When we vote on a bandwagon, we don’t necessarily get good governance,” Moghalu commented.
The summit was divided into two sub-themes: the first is ‘influencers and governance’ while the second is ‘social media and governance.’
