YOLA — Mallam Mika’ilu of Agga Mosque Jimeta, Adamawa State has attributed the root causes of insecurity bedeviling the country to lack of good moral upbringing and parental home training in most of our societies in Nigeria.

The Islamic scholar made the observation during a Ramadan lecture organized by the Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria (IMWON) as part of 2021 Ramadan activities held at Ladi Atiku School Jimeta.

He said nowadays most parents have abandoned their responsibilities of training their children and inculcating good morals in them with for them to become responsible members of the society.

“In those days training of children is done by everybody for them to be good citizens in the society, but nowadays every parent cares for his children alone, and this is what makes those untrained and uncared children become nuisance in the society.

“Parents should be prayerful for their children to become good people in the society, monitor their movement, watch programmes on Television and friends they relate with”, he said.

The Islamic scholar stated that parents should exhibit moral behaviours for the children to emulate.

He advised parents should bring their children closer to them and ensure they are discharging their duties diligently particularly feeding, education, stressing that failure of parents in that regard make some evil people to lure them into evil deeds.

Another Islamic scholar Mallam Aliyu Haruna said fasting in the month of Ramadan is a compulsory act of worship which includes abstinence from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual intercourse from dawn to sunset.

He stated that Muslims are expected to shun away from all evils while fasting in order to have the bountiful rewards.

Aliyu called on Muslim faithful especially well to do to provide foodstuffs to poor and needy Muslims, pointed out that such act attracts enormous reward.

In her welcome address, the Amirah of the organization Mallama Asma’u Aliyu said the organization is nongovernmental and non-political but was formed to assist orphans and widows in the society.

“This organization started in Kaduna by two Muslim sisters, though one is of blessed memory. The idea of forming the organization was when they came in contact with some female orphans’ school-age children roaming the street”. She said
