YOLA — Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has reiterated the determination of his administration of protecting the lives and properties of the citizenry considering the security challenges bedeviling some parts of the country.

The Governor who spoke at a Ramadan lecture organized by the Centre for Islamic Thought (CIT), Yola held at the Federal College of Education Yola, said the government will continue to fight crimes perpetrated by unscrupulous elements in the society.

Represented by Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Affairs, Ustaz Ali Mamman, the Governor disclosed that when the government came on board it started to deal with the miscreants called Shilla boys in the state capital.

“Government will continue to ensure that peace prevails in all parts of the state for any law-abiding citizen to conduct his/her legitimate activities devoid of any fear of security threat,” he said.

Fintiri stated that the government will always listen to messages by religious leaders, and solicited prayers from them to enable the present administration run the governance based on justice and fairness.

The Governor commended the organizers for sustaining the annual lecture, apart from last occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his welcome address, the Amir of the Centre Dr. Usman Ahmed Dadah said the Centre is a faith-based organization and member of the Muslim Council, Adamawa state, primarily involved in Dawa’ah activities (Call to Islam) in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and Tradition of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Dadah also enumerated other activities conducted by the centre to include annual Islamic calendar, Hajj Operations, Management of Usman Bin Fodio Academy, Yolde Pate, Ramadan lecture, Sponsoring of Islamic programmes on Media, special education for revertees to Islam, support for the weak, poor and the less privileged in the society and networking with other Islamic organizations among others.

 “We in the CIT remain grateful to the entire Muslim Ummah in the state for supporting our course. We call on well to do Muslim Brothers and Sisters to support us morally and financially to enable continue implementing our programmes and activities”.

“Let me call on Brothers and Sisters in Islam to continue to pray for the success of the present administration as its tackle the problems of insurgency, corruption, kidnapping and economic sabotage in the country”.

“We should pray for the peace, progress and development of our dear state and the country at large. May Allah SWT bring to an end the senseless killings and kidnappings now rampant in this country,” Dadah added.

In a remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Barrister Musa Kaibo charged the youths to seek knowledge and follow the footsteps of learned Islamic scholars, by distancing themselves from any act that can dent their reputation.

Kaibo who is a Special Adviser to the Governor commended the organizers of the lecture, noted that such fora always impact positively on the society.

The Guest lecturer, Dr Magaji Fadhalu Zarewa who spoke extensively on purification of heart, called on Muslims to always adhere to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

He admonished them on the need to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, visitation to graveyards, offering supplicatory prayers and fasting among others.
