YOLA — Some aggrieved Youths in Mayo Belwa town, Adamawa state have protested against the killing of one resident of the town Danjuma by men of Task the Joint Force “Operation Farauta” by blocking the Yola-Jalingo highway for hours burning motor tyres.

Operation Farauta was set up by the present administration in the state as a moved to tame the tide of insecurity in the state.

It was gathered that the family of 42-year-old, Danjuma was alleged to have been accused by his neighbour of being member of kidnapping gang terrorizing Mayo Belwa and the environs.

Late Danjuma was then arrested and tortured by members of Operation Farauta which resulted in his death.

The protesting youths took the corpse of the deceased to the office of the security outfit in Mayo Balwa demanding action for the victims.

The residents of Mayo Belwa have been accusing operatives of the security outfit of allegedly brutalizing innocent people in the area in recent times.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State Police Command DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the incident, explained that the command was investigating the matter, and urged residents of Mayo Belwa to avoid taking the laws into their hands.

“The command will deal decisively with anyone found breaching public peace; residents should report any illegal conduct perceived or injustice by and group to the Police for necessary action,” He said.

Nguroje reiterated the commitment of the police command to protecting lives and properties of Adamawa people.
