Former Justice of Appeal Court of Nigeria, Justice Eugene Chukwuemeka Ubaezonu has died.
The West African Pilot News learned that the Nnewi-born jurist, legal luminary, and author died last night 21st May 2021, at the EastWest Hospital, Enugu, according to his son Chinedu Ubaezuonu.
Hon. Justice E.C Ubaezuonu (J.C.A Emeritus) who also a recipient of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) is was 90.
A graduate of the University of Bristol, England, was at a time a legal adviser to a former president of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abyssinian Akweke Nwafor-Orizu.
Ubaezuono who holds the Nnewi traditional title of “Agba Nnewi” was a former General Secretary of the Igwe Nnewi Royal Cabinet, and was also the pioneer Chancellor of Nnewi Anglican Diocese.
Justice Ubezeonu was a native of Okpuno Nnewichi, Nnewi, and had planned to celebrate his 60 years of Marriage with his wife this year.
The funeral arrangement will be announced by the family in due course.
