Hours following the attack on his house, self-acclaimed Yoruba activist, Sunday Akinyemo popularly referred to as Sunday Igboho declared a mega rally to be held in Lagos state canceled.

He disclosed this while speaking with BBC Pidgin.

Igboho’s house was allegedly attacked by military operatives on Thursday morning.

Two persons were said to have been killed in the attack and bullet holes were also found on the buildings in the compound.

According to an eyewitness, about 10 vehicles belonging to the activist, including his G-wagon, Prado SUVs, and valuable properties, furniture, and windows were destroyed.

“They were all soldiers, military men. They came in vans and Hummer buses. They abducted his wife and others. They killed two people,” Sahara reporters quoted him to have said.

Igboho alleged that the attack was carried out by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian army.

He claimed the attack was unexpected as his contention has been against Fulani Bandits terrorizing citizens in the south West.

“I fight for my family because Fulani bandits killed my family and raped them,” he said

He also noted that the intended rally was meant to be benign.
