LAGOS — The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Charles Okechukwu Esimone, has been honoured by My Media Africa as the most distinguished Vice-Chancellor in Nigeria, during the My Media Africa Awards/Leadership Summit, held at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos.

My Media Africa, publisher of My Media Africa magazine and convener of Africa Illustrious Awards is committed to celebrating African excellence in tech innovation, entrepreneurship, community service, and leadership. The organisation is also focused on using its platform to project the bright side of Africa that is often neglected by mainstream media. Reports of war and doom, gloom, and chaos that comes out of Africa, are not all there is of Africa, yet, those feature prominently to the extent that success and excellence appear by these reports, exceptions, not the rule.

Many Tech and innovative start-ups, and entrepreneurs were also recognized. One of the start-ups in this category is Hi-Tech Garage, an auto care facility based in Awka, Anambra State. Similarly, the pidgin Bible Translator was equally honoured as well.

Generally, it is agreed that those honoured deserve their recognition and award. For My Media Africa, efforts at recognizing and celebrating excellence go a long way to building and entrenching a culture of excellence, innovation, tech solutions, and skillful leadership, which it is hoped, will address Africa’s development challenges.
