YOLA — The Adamawa State Executive Council Wednesday approved over (N142b) one hundred and forty-two billion naira for 2022 two budget envelopes as defined by medium-term expenditure framework as well as economic and fiscal update.

Dr Umar Garba Pella, Commissioner of Information and Strategy disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Government House, Yola.

“The projection has become a tradition since the present administration came on board towards incestualizing budget-making in conformity with global standards on fiscal planning.”

“Various spending’s that are tied to revenue expectation and expenditure for 2022 would be within the envelope of the projection which is aimed at guiding spending and planning within the year.”

“Among other objectives to be achieved with the projection include aggregate fiscal discipline, efficient allocation of resources and technical support to spending,” he said.

The commissioner stated that the council had directed the Planning Commission, the Ministry of Finance and every spending agency to work within the threshold of the projection.

He also said the council had approved over seven hundred and thirty-eight million naira (N700m) as a variation for the construction of health facilities in Shelleng, Gombi, Lamurde, Girei, Numan, Mubi and Song local government areas awarded in 2020.

The decision, according to him, was informed by the rising cost of building materials and some peculiarities regarding the original designs of the projects which were at the initial contract sum of one point four billion naira (N1.4b).

“The improvements in the expansion of the designs that affected the project specifications at the initial award were part of the reasons for which the government had to engage a consultant who provided a valid justification for the variation,” he said.
