KADUNA — Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked the Keke community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State and abducted at least 18 residents.

According to reports, the gunmen numbering about 20, stormed the area in the early hours of Tuesday and invaded the area at about 12am with sophisticated weapons, shooting sporadically before whisking the victims away.

ASP Mohammed Jalige, Kaduna state Police Public Relations Officer said he would inquire.

Meanwhile, Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District of Niger State in the National Assembly, Alhaji Sani Musa has decried the killing of 20 villagers in Shiroro Local Government Area last Thursday by armed bandits.

Musa, who stated this in Minna, described the act as not only wicked and callous, but a gross act of man’s inhumanity.

He said the deceased were slaughtered in cold blood by the bandits in an incident that took place in broad daylight.

“I condemn in very strong terms the recent massacre by bandits of honest and peace-loving villagers in some communities in the Shiroro local government area of Niger State.”

“To slaughter innocent villagers like goats taken to the altar for sacrifice is totally unacceptable, we should therefore do everything possible to bring these criminals to justice”.

“Government at all levels to do everything possible to bring the criminals to justice. The massacre is a heinous crime that is unacceptable and should be condemned by every peace-loving person in the country,” he said.

He then commiserated with the families that lost their loved ones in the barbaric behaviour of the bandits and prayed to Allah to accept their souls.
