ENUGU — The Enugu State Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Dr. Surveyor Victor Chukwuemeka Nnam on Friday tendered a letter of resignation to the Executive Governor of the state.

In his letter, Nnam cited the removal of his professional Heads of Departments, HODs, on punitive grounds as reason for his decision.

He further expressed dismay that his proposal for establishment of a GIS land administration system that enables the Ministry to stamp out land grabbers and create investors’ confidence in land system was rejected without explanation.

Meanwhile, a Coalition of Enugu State Land Owners, CESLO, has described the Ex-Commissioner’s resignation as long overdue.

The group stated in a statement signed by Petrus Edeh stated thus, “Victor Nnam’s tenure as Commissioner in Enugu state is rife with unimaginable proportion of crisis, illegal land revocations and re-allocations of same to his cronies illegally.”

They further called on the state governor to institute a judicial panel of inquiry to look into the complaints of innocent land owners who have suffered untold wickedness from the subterfuge of the now resigned commissioner.

Recall that two weeks ago, Nnam appeared before the Enugu State House of Assembly after ignoring their invitations 3 times.

Nnam was invited by a special ad-hoc Committee on Extortion and Multiple Collection of levies in Enugu urban local government areas and other connected matters set up by the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi to throw light on revenue collections of the ministry of lands amongst others.

But he stood up the committee and resorted to sponsoring malicious publications against the members of the Enugu State House of Assembly;

The publications accused the ad-hoc Committee of requesting for money and responsible for the death of M.J Ekweremmadu.

He also instructed the town planners from appearing before the committee as requested during the special assignment.
