YOLA — Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri says the present administration is committed to making some reforms to ensure efficiency, probity and accountability in the Civil Service.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri stated this during the twenty twenty-one Law Week of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA, Yola Branch held at Admiral Murtal Nyako Center, State Secretariat Yola on Monday.

Similarly, the Governor said the government will continue to make new policies that will strengthen good governance and effective service delivery in the Civil Service.

Represented by Deputy Governor Chief Crowther Seth, the Governor said the administration was determined to uphold and promote the rule of law, respect the independence of the Judiciary, and ensure access to justice to all in the State.

In a remark, the State Chief Judge, Justice Nathan Musa announced that a panel will be set up to look into grey areas in the panel law as well as establish an ICT department at the Judiciary.

In his keynote address, the guest speaker who is also the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Afraimu Jingi suggested that the Nigerian Bar Association which is the umbrella body of all lawyers in Nigeria should incorporate digital upskilling courses into its mandatory Continuing Legal Education program to build a digitally driven, IT compliant legal industry.

He noted this would ensure that legal practitioners are prepared to manage the exigencies of remote work whether within or outside the country.

The guest speaker advised Law firms to evolve modalities of work and move with changing times.

Earlier, in a welcome address, the chairman of the NBA Yola branch, Barrister Jibrin Ibrahim Jimeta who explained the reasons for holding the event now, also enumerated some of the challenges being faced by the profession.

He thanked the leadership of the judiciary in the State as well as the present administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for its support and cooperation.
