ENUGU — A delegation of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), led by the Agency’s National Coordinator, Rtd Major General Abba Dikko has announced plans to establish their Zonal Headquarters in Enugu.

The National Coordinator revealed this move when he led his team on a courtesy visit to the Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Government House, Enugu on Tuesday.

The National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) replaces the defunct Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons.

The Centre is domiciled in the Office of the National Security Adviser and serves as the institutional mechanism for policy guidance, research, and monitoring of all aspects of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) in Nigeria.

NCCSALW provides the strategic framework for containing the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, especially those coming from across our borders especially within the West Africa sub-region and through the maritime environment.

Establishing a zonal centre in Enugu is in tandem with the original structure that the Centre will not only maintain international cooperation but also operate zonal offices in the Six Geopolitical Zones to ensure quick response and effective mobilization of resources.
