The governor had through the Head of Service, Mr. Theodora Igwegbe, issued a statement on Friday, directing workers to start resuming normal activities every Monday.

On a visit to the Jerome Secretariat complex, Awka, It was observed that most offices were open and that the workers who had resumed duty as of 9:00 am, expressed delight and urged the state government to provide adequate security and transport to enable full compliance with the directive.

There was also full compliance at the popular Nkwo Amaenyi Market and Eke Awka Market as most traders were seen exchanging money for goods from buyers.

However, the Enugu/Onitsha expressway, including all major park and stores in Awka were deserted

Moreso, in the industrial city of Nnewi, the commercial city of Onitsha, Oko, and Ekwulobia, there was a low level of compliance just as markets, motor parks, banks, offices, and schools remained shut.
