BIRNIN KEBBI — The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami joined the race for the Kebbi State governorship seat in 2023.

Malami made his intention to succeed the current Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, known at the presidential hall in Birnin Kebbi during APC’s stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday.

According to him, he joined the race in response to calls from his people to serve the state as their Governor.

He said he has been under pressure from those who want him to contest and has therefore taken up the challenge in response to the calls.

The Minister said, “Since you want me to contest the governorship position of the state, I hereby accept your demand since you want me to do so.

“People from the state have been pressurizing me to contest the governorship position in 2023.

“If you will support me and accept me, I wish to say I am interested in becoming the next governor of Kebbi if you permit me.

“We pray for Allah’s guidance and assistance and may the answer to your demands be the continuous development of the state.”

He would be seeking the ticket on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
