The presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has described vying to become Nigeria’s president as a demotion.

He said this during the church’s recent leadership summit.

In the past weeks, a number of presidential aspirants have continued to emerge ahead of the forthcoming presidential election.

Even clerics have come out to declare their intention to succeed the incumbent president. Notable among them is Pastor Tunde Bakare, serving overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor.

Speaking during a leadership summit, Oyedepo explained that although he believes in Nigeria, it is too late for him to contest the highest political position in the nation, stressing that he is called for a global impact.

“I believe in Nigeria and that is why I am still here, and still praying for Nigeria. But I consider it a demotion if I am invited to become the president of Nigeria. I am called for a global impact. I saw this since 1984,” the eminent preacher said.
