AWKA — The Anambra State House of Assembly has gotten a new Clerk of the House, Mrs. Esther Anieto,  following the expiration of service of the former Clerk of the House, Mr. Pius Udoh. The former Clerk Udoh, served meritoriously, first in acting capacity before his full confirmation upon promotion to the position of permanent secretary in Service.

Having served the 5th, 6th and 7th Assembly, Pius Udoh is easily one of the most experienced clerks that have served in Anambra State House of Assembly.

Upon Udoh’s honourable exit last week, Mrs. Esther Anieto has assumed duty as the Acting Clerk of Anambra State House of Assembly and therefore now the first woman Clerk of Anambra State House of Assembly. Before her new position, she was the Deputy Clerk of the House alongside Mrs. Okwy Igwegbe who left the Assembly earlier this year when she was appointed as the Head of Service of Anambra State.

Mrs. Anieto though easygoing, may not likely fit the administrative leadership posture of Udoh, who was able to manage the Assembly through calm and turbulent seasons. In consequence, he also enjoyed tremendous goodwill as well as influence over members of the House from the 5th to the current 7th Assembly.

However, the soft-spoken and calm Mrs. Anieto brings along with her in the new job, years of experience as Deputy Clerk under Pius Udoh which she can merge with her insights to provide outstanding administrative leadership of the Anambra State House of Assembly, while the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor provides political leadership of the House, along with other Principal Officers.
