YOLA — The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three local hunters for aiding kidnapping in Girei and Fufore Local Governments in the state.
According to a statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulaan Nguroje, said the suspects: Auwal Mohammed (28), Isa Umaru (40), and Rabiu Mohammed (19) have been terrorising residents of Girei, Pariya and Daware villages in Girei and Fufore local government areas.
He said the police had recovered one motorcycle, locally made pistols, and other items from the suspects.
The statement read in part: “All members of the hunters association, attached to Tambajam and Tsigire Villages of Fufore and Song local government areas are collaborators of the nefarious kidnapping activities going on in that axis.
“Investigation so far reveals that the suspects betrayed the trust reposed in them by the community members of protecting lives and properties, went ahead supplying food items and other basic needs to their fellow kidnappers around that area”.
The police Boss assured the government and good people of Adamawa state of the command’s unrelenting effort in combating crime in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande while commending the gallantry performance of DPO Girei and his men for making it difficult for such criminals to escape arrest, equally directs other Divisional police officers, operational Commanders and their supervisory Area Commanders to do the same and dominate the public space by denying the criminals opportunity to regroup anywhere within the state.
