The General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi has urged presidential aspirants across political parties not to field a running mate of the same religious background as theirs.

As a highly respected cleric among Nigerians both Christians and Muslims, many people have desired to hear his opinion on the forthcoming general elections

After keeping Nigerians in suspense for a while, Kumuyi finally commented on the issue during his visit to the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq.

According to him, the Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket is a difficult and slippery area in our country today.

He further urged politicians to have it in their mind that they are not there to represent themselves but to present the people. Hence, the need for them to listen to the heartbeat of the country as well as the desire of the people.

He said, “They should ask and make their research on what the country wants, what the people want. If they listen to the people, we will be confident that they will listen to us when they get there.”

Kumuyi also appealed to politicians to consult deeply and select leaders that will be suitable and capable to rule the country.
