Ibrahim Abdullahi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Association of Point of Sale Users in Nigeria (APOSUN) said Nigeria has grown the number of Point of Sale (POS) operators to about 167,000.
Abdullahi disclosed this when the association paid an advocacy visit to the FCT command of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja recently.
“APOSUN, registered three years ago, aimed at creating jobs for Nigeria’s teeming unemployed youths and minimizing crime.
“There were 167,000 POS partners as at March 2022, which included banks and other issuing institutions like merchant companies, because, since 2013 when the Central Bank of Nigeria introduced the use of POS for banking, POS has been widely accepted in every nook and cranny of the country.”
“APOSUN, registered three years ago, aimed at creating jobs for Nigeria’s teeming unemployed youths and minimizing crime, while seeking the need for security backing to effectively complement the activities of operators,” he said.
He seeks for security backing to effectively complement the activities of operators.
Responding, the DSS Director, FCT Command, Ado Mu’azu, assured of the support of the DSS to the association, adding that dealing with an association was better than dealing with individual cases which were usually cumbersome.
