Favour Bassey Otu has made the ultimate sacrifice by resigning her position as a broadcast journalist with Silverbird Television inorder to throw her weight behind Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate.
The seasoned broadcast journalist with more than five years of experience in the media industry broke the news of her voluntary resignation on Twitter on Saturday, July 9.
According to her, the decision became pertinent since her career demands her to be neutral on political matters.
Otu said she hopes to return to the industry after the elections or perhaps start up a business.
“They said a journalist must be non-partisan (unbiased and fair). So I resigned my position with @SilverbirdTV to throw my full support on @PeterObi. After the elections next year, I’ll apply for a media job maybe with @channelstv or @ARISEtv or start up my business,” she tweeted.
She followed the tweet up with “We must get it right”, noting how important the 2023 presidential election is and how important it was for Nigerians to vote for a credible candidate.
