The Abubakar Mohammed, 23-year-old inmate who is facing terrorism charges, an escapee from Kuje Prison has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command while trying to relocate to Bama, his native home in Borno State.

Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande disclosed this in a statement, saying the escapee was arrested along the Adamawa/Borno border.

“The command had recovered weapons, and arrested 12 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers in the state,” Akande said.

Similarly, the Benue State Police Command on Thursday said its operatives have arrested one Ebube Igwe Jude, who escaped from Kuje Custodial Centre following the recent jail-break.

SP Catherine Anene, spokesperson for the command said in a statement that detectives deployed to investigate the case arrested him along George Akume Way, Wurukum in Makurdi.

“On 19/7/2022, at about 3pm, information was received about one Ebube Igwe Jude, a fugitive who had arrived in Makurdi as a result of Kuje jail break.

Anene added that the command had begun processes to hand over the escapee to the Nigeria Correctional Service for necessary actions.

The statement said: “During investigation, he confessed to have escaped from Kuje correctional centre during the jail break. He stated further that he is an awaiting trial inmate, standing trial in a case of Culpable Homicide involving his girlfriend”.
