A member of All Progressive Congress representing Bauchi North Senatorial zone has reviewed that majority of the APC senators are in total support for the impeachment of the Major General Muhammad Buhari.
Senator Bulkachuwa a member of the ruling APC said almost all members of the senate support the move after they had a closed-door executive session last Wednesday. A six week Ultimatum was given to Muhammad Buhari to address the security crisis lingering and leveraging the country at large.
This came up after the Federal Capital Territory was attacked by terrorists. Bulkachuwa on Monday further stated that all efforts especially made by the National Assembly to end the insecurity proves abortive. The senator representing Bauchi North Senatorial District recalled some of the events that unfolded on the very day, he said ” In the instance , on that day, the senate went on closed session that these issues were discussed . Without divulging so much, I can tell you that majority of the senators really felt there was need the need to initiate that action” he also said that the issue of economy was raised during the executive session at the plenary.
Bulkachuwa, furthermore, added when asked if the resolution was unanimous ” it was not 100% unanimous per se but the majority supported it. And this didn’t come out to public knowledge because it was during a closed session. And (as) you know closed session or executive sessions or executive sessions there are not journalists, not even (members of) staff of the Assembly. It is purely a meeting of lawmakers-senators that are present on that day.
This move, according to Bulkachuwa was an attempt to draw the attention of the executive of the government to the fact that they have constitutional responsibility bro pull ears at it were by way of notice of impeachment and give them a chance. His personal view, was that something can happen and he is still hopeful that Buhari will take drastic measures before the ultimatum issued to him elapses.
