Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) says Peter Obi’s eight years as governor is an abysmal failure.

Obi, Sowore’s counterpart in the presidential race under the umbrella of Labour Party (LP), was governor of Anambra State between 2006 and 2014.

Sowore, the publisher of SaharaReporters, an online media platform, aired his opinion on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday.

He said the former governor who has a history of switching political parties was part of the old system that has crippled the nation’s growth and development which he has always stood up against.

“Peter Obi is part of the old system that I’ve always fought,” Sowore said.

“I understand where he is coming from. It is 1999 repeated. Nigeria wants to change, some young people are genuinely interested in change—a different direction.

“And then they are presented with somebody who worked for the establishment; somebody who has been in PDP, APGA, come back to PDP, LP.”

Sowore said Obi, who enjoys massive support from Nigerian youths who are dissatisfied with the country’s current political system, is not the change Nigeria needs.

According to him, Obi did not build any schools, industries and power stations in Anambra State during his two-term administration.

“He’s not new to the rotten system. Somebody who was eight years as governor of a state. We can be emotional about it but that’s the truth,” Sowore said.

“He didn’t build any schools, he didn’t build any industry, he didn’t have a power station. He’s not my kind of progressive.”
