ENUGU — The rate at which men of the underworld shed blood is becoming alarming in the South East geographical zone of Nigeria as no fewer than 3 persons were gunned down over the weekend in Ebonyi State and Enugu State.
In Ebonyi state, a Chinese man was shot dead at a mining site in Iboko, Izzi Local Government Area; the reasons for his attack is unknown but his remains have been deposited at a mortuary in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Meanwhile, in Enugu state, the gunmen attacked and burnt the Inyi Police Station in the Oji River Local Government Area.
In a video circulating on social media, two lifeless police officers were seen with the police station on fire; the lifeless bodies of two young men lay within the premises of the station.
The background voice heard in the video identified the two victims as policemen. The man who captured the incident said that the gunmen arrived in two vehicles and opened fire on the police officers; “we did not come for the civilians but for the policemen,” the voice recounts the gunmen’s position.
Information on the attack is still sketchy as the Enugu Police Command is yet to speak on the dastard act.
Meanwhile, Enugu state residents are cautioned to be security alert, especially those who have reasons to be in or around Inyi, Achi, Ufuma, Umunze, Ajari, and Arondiizogu communities because of the resurgence of gunmen activities.
The red alert read, “Warning! Achi, Inyi, Oji-River, Ufuma, Umunze, Ajari, Arondiizogu those axis are facing security challenges, Ngwo Iri sons & daughters, lets always be security cautious and avoid night movement, above all, commit your going out & coming in with the Blood of Almighty Jesus Christ the savior.”
