The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 22 years old male suspect, Mr. Osuagwu Chidubem at Nekede Owerri in Imo state for the murder of his 32 years old lover, Amarachi Chukwu.
Osuagwu was arrested while attempting to sell the Toyota Corolla car belonging to his deceased lover which he made away with after murdering the lady on the 1st of November, 2022 in her residence at Meniru Awkunanaw in Enugu state.
The suspect was arraigned in court upon conclusion of the investigation and has been remanded in Custodial Centre till further hearing of the case; Osuagwu’s cohort in the murder case is still at large.
The Enugu State Police Command bulletin signed by DSP Ndukwe Daniel revealed that the arrest was made possible by team efforts of Detectives serving in the Homicide Section of the State CID Enugu and Police Operatives in Imo State Command.
Investigation revealed that the suspect and his cohort had on Tuesday morning, 1st November 2022 gone to Amarachi Chukwu’s house.
On attempting to make away with her car keys, late Amarachi resisted them hence they tied her hands, legs, and mouth with clothes; locked her inside of the house, and made away with the car.
Their wicked deed was however brought to the fore when odor from her decomposing body oozed out of her apartment.
Police operatives serving in Ikirike Police Division of the Command who were called in by her neighbors forced open her apartment’s door on Friday 4th November 2022.
The corpse has since been evacuated and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
