Anambra State House of Assembly after due consideration of the report by the House Committee on Culture, Tourism, Entertainment and Diaspora Affairs, the House unanimously granted the pleas of the Ministry of the Ministry communicated in a letter signed by the Commissioner.

In a letter addressed to the House of Assembly, the Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, Entertainment, and Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Don Onyenji, sort the leave of the House to enable the Ministry register and license industry players, among others, as prescribed by the Anambra State Tourism and Hospitality Law, 2016.

In his report, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Sonny Ozobialu, the member representing Nnewi South 1 constituency, asked the House to expedite action on the passage of the resolution to enable the Ministry undertake its cardinal functions of registering and licensing players in the tourism, and entertainment industry in the state.

After a healthy debate by members at plenary at the time the committee report was presented, the Committee report was adopted and the House then resolved that “the Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, Entertainment and Diaspora, be granted approval to perform all specific duties –including registration and licensing entertainment and tourism industry players-… under part three of the Anambra State Tourism and Hospitality Law, 2016”.

By this resolution, the Ministry has been empowered to register and license players in the tourism and entertainment industry and those intending to explore the industry in Anambra State. This, it is expected, will aid in revenue generation for the state, while also ensuring standard best practices for industry players in Anambra State.

Motion for adjournment of the House was moved by Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and seconded by Hon. Onyebuchi Offor, and the House was adjourned till next week Tuesday.
