A 34-year-old Inuwa Yunana, a resident of Gyawana, Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State has been arrested by the Police for stoning to death his close friend Augustine Otti, a student at the University of Maiduguri and robbing him of N100,000=00.

The Adamawa State Police Spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje in a statement said the suspect subdued the deceased, Augustine Otti and hit him severally with a stick and later stoned him to death, and threw the lifeless body into a gutter.


“The suspect brutally killed the deceased on 18/4/2023 at about 8:00 pm while accompanying him to go and complete payment of rice he bought at Mbemum village.”
“In addition to that, he stoned the deceased until he was sure he had died before taking away from him the sum of N100,000 Cash.”
“The suspect was apprehended following the recovery of material evidence at the scene of the crime which is linked to him.”
“Interestingly, the suspect voluntarily made a confessional statement, adding that he was only interested in taking possession of the deceased money,” the statement said.
Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police CP Afolabi Babatola had expressed disappointment over the unfortunate incident and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of CID to investigate the matter and ensure the law takes its course.

CP Babatola while commending the operatives of the Command for arresting the suspect calls on the citizens to always report people of suspicious character around their neighborhoods to the police.
