Last night, the grand finale of the most prestigious award show in Africa’s entertainment industry, the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, AMVCA, was held.

The annual event recognises and celebrates the best talent and creativity in the African film and television industry.

The ninth edition of the AMVCAs officially kicked off on Thursday, May 18, 2023, with an ‘Opening Night and Cultural Day’ event held at the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino, Lagos State.

It was followed by the ‘Digital Content Creators Day’ and the ‘Nominee Gala and Runaway Show’ on Friday, May 19 at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. respectively.

The climax of the event was the ‘Awards Night’ on Saturday, May 20 at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Below is the list of the phenomenal award winners who lit up Saturday night with their incredible talent and creativity:

  • BEST ART DIRECTOR (MOVIE/TV SERIES): Wale Adeleke (King Of Thieves: Agesinkole).
  • BEST COSTUME DESIGNER (MOVIE/TV SERIES): Adeola Art-Alade (The Real Housewives of Lagos: Reunion Episode).
  • BEST ONLINE SOCIAL CONTENT CREATOR: Elozonam and Kie Kie (Back From The Future).
  • BEST LIGHTING DESIGNER (MOVIE/TV SERIES): Mathew Yusuf (Brotherhood).
  • BEST PICTURE EDITOR (MOVIE/TV SERIES): Holmes Awa and Daniel Tom (Crime and Justice).
  • BEST SOUND EDITOR (MOVIE OR TV SERIES): Anu Afolayan (Anikulapo).
  • BEST SOUNDTRACK (MOVIE/TV SERIES): Kent Edunjobi (Anikulapo).
  • BEST MAKEUP ARTIST (MOVIE/TV SERIES): Maryam Ndukwe and Hakeem Effects Onilogbo (Shanty Town).
  • BEST WRITER (MOVIE/TV SERIES): Sola Dada – (Anikulapo).
  • BEST CINEMATOGRAPHER (MOVIE/TV SERIES): Loukman Ali (Brotherhood).
  • BEST INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE MOVIE OR TV SERIES (SWAHILI): Philip Karanja Njenga (Click Click Bang)
  • BEST INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE MOVIE OR TV SERIES (YORUBA): Kunle Afolayan (Anikulapo).
