The Adamawa State Government through the Ministry of Health on Thursday sealed eight private Health Training Institutions in the state for operating without being licensed.
The affected institutions are Fat-Hur-Rahman College of Health Sciences and Technology, Wuro Hausa Yola, College of Health Technology, Almashkur International Academy Yola, and School of Health Technology Kazaure, Dougirei Jimeta Yola.
Others are Savannah Model College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jimeta-Yola, Jimeta Central College of Health Science and Technology, FOMWAN, and Yola.
Also sealed are the School of Health Technology, Wuro Kuturu Jimeta Nafan College of Health Science and Technology, Jambutu Jimeta, and Bell Dome College of Health Sciences and Technology, Nyako quarters, Jimeta Yola.
The sealing Off Committee is led by the Director of Public Health, Ministry of Health, Mr. Isaac Kadala.
Commenting on the exercise, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Barr. Isuwa Misali explained that the exercise is aimed at sanitizing health institutions in the state in line with Governor Fintiri’s agenda of improving health in Adamawa.
“All the closed health colleges have not met the requisite requirement for establishing the training institutions and the ministry cannot compromise the health sector.
“The training health institutions are expected to have ten permanent health professional staff, recreational center, sports field and accommodation among other components,” he said.
Barr Misali pointed out that the affected colleges can liaise with the ministry to perfect all necessary procedures for establishing the College of Health Sciences and Technology for operational permits.
The exercise which started in Yola South and Yola North local government areas will continue in the Northern zone of the state.
