The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC Zamfara State wing has charged security agencies, to as a matter of urgency, fish out the killers of Lawali Magaji and Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada.

Lawali Magaji, a political associate of Sen. Kabiru Garba Marafa was brutally murdered by a group of people in Tsafe town, Tsafe Local Government Area of the State in February 2024, while Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada was gruesomely killed a few kilometers from Mada town recently.

The Commission condemned the act and unaccepted, saying no individual can take the law of the land into their hands and go unpunished.

Abdullahi Abubakar, Zamfara State Coordinator of the commission in an interview with newsmen in Gusau, the State capital, noted with concern that there are several reported cases of extrajudicial killings across the state.

“The killings of Lawali Magaji, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa’s political aide, and Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada have become eye-openers, so the perpetrators should not be allowed to move freely.

“The need has arisen for the security agencies not to defend the perpetrators, but to embark on a thorough investigation of the two cases of extrajudicial killings to bring those behind the acts to face the full wrath of the law.

“This will prevent the state from degenerating into a serious problem in the future,” he cautioned,” he said.
