Over 169 Christians from Adamawa State are expected to perform a 2024 pilgrimage to Jerusalem, as the screening process preparatory for the airlift to the Holy Land is ongoing at the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board Commission’s headquarters in Yola.

Mrs. Agustina Emmanuel, Executive Secretary of the Commission gave this indication in an interview in Yola said after completion of the screening at the state level, officials from the National headquarters of the Commission in Abuja will further screen the pilgrims before data capture.

According to her, the board is fully prepared for the airlift; it only awaits takeoff day and time from the national body of the commission.

The Executive Secretary said the intending Pilgrims would visit Rome Greece Jerusalem and Jordan due to the ongoing crisis.

Also speaking, the State leader of the delegation to the Holy Land, His Majesty Murum Mbula, Murum Bentley Biyapo Boiman II said he is committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and orderliness of the intending Pilgrims, calling on them to be calm and responsible as well as cooperate with the screening committee.

Meanwhile, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has given assurance that no pilgrim from the state will abscond while in Rome.

He gave the assurance when the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission Bishop Stephen Adegbite paid him a visit in his office at the Government House Yola.

“Though boards are yet to be constituted in the state, the capable management of the Christian pilgrims welfare board has been up and doing to see that they have a successful pilgrimage assuring that no Adamawa pilgrim will abscond,” he said.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure a hitch-free Christian pilgrimage exercise, saying the present administration has achieved religious tolerance in the state which has guaranteed peace and development.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission Bishop Stephen Adegbite said he had deployed some changes in the commission also keyed into the renewed hope agenda of the President which preaches peace.

He appealed for more sponsorship of pilgrims, noting that Adamawa has been doing well over the years.
