No fewer than 44 women and children held hostage in terrorist enclaves in the Timbuktu Triangle cutting across Borno and Yobe states have been rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army.
The Director, of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement said the terrorists abandoned their enclaves and fled following an offensive operation of fierce air cum artillery bombardments and ground battle, leaving behind MOWAG Armoured Personnel Carrier, a Canter Truck, and a Tractor.
“The rescued women and children were provided with immediate relief, including clothing after which they were handed over to the Borno State Ministry of Women Affairs,” the statement said.
