In a significant development, Nigerian troops have made substantial progress against terrorist groups operating within the country.
According to a statement released Friday by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, the military neutralised 135 terrorists and apprehended 182 others during a week-long operation across various regions.
The operations, conducted by the Armed Forces and other security agencies, targeted areas known for terrorist activity.
The statement highlighted successes in the North East, North West, and North Central. Notably, troops also rescued 140 hostages who were likely victims of kidnapping by these terrorist groups.
General Buba detailed the recovery of a substantial amount of weaponry during the operations. These included a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including rifles, explosives, and ammunition rounds.
Additionally, troops apprehended 15 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen oil products worth millions of naira in the South-South.
